Girl Scout Cookie Program
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is an important part of Girl Scouting. This year's sale begins on January 12 and ends on March 30. Not only does it fund programs and activities, but it teaches girls important life skills such as learning to set goals, handling money responsibly, greeting the public and answering questions, and following through with a commitment. The wonderful thing about the Girl Scout Cookie Program is that it raises critically needed funds in a way that provides girls with a positive experience that develops character and skills.
Brownie through Senior Girl Scouts (ages 6-17) sell cookies only once a year, so when a Girl Scouts knocks on your door, be sure to stock up on America’s favorite cookies.

Where does the money go?
All proceeds from the Cookie Sale remain right here in Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council. The board of directors decides how the Council's share of the proceeds are spent. Some of the Council activities and projects that are funded by the Cookie Sale include:
- facility and property maintenance
- financial assistance
- training for adult volunteers
- girl programs such as math, science, and technology activities
Approximately
one-quarter of the selling price of a package of Girl Scout cookies
goes toward the actual cost of the cookies, and other costs of the
sales such as recognitions for the girls. This means that as much as
three-quarters or more of every Girl Scout cookie purchase goes toward
programs and services to benefit girls, and a portion of that goes
directly to the troop/group selling the cookies.
Each Girl Scout council’s volunteer board of directors chooses the baker, determines the price per box, decides how this revenue will be used to provide vital service and decides how much money will be returned to troops/groups selling cookies for their projects and activities.
In our Council, 57 percent of the operating budget is funded by the Cookie Sale. The price for a package of cookies is $3.50. Troops receive 56 to 63 cents of every cookie package they sell. Service units receive 3 cents per package. Troops/Groups and Service Units decide how they want to spend their bonus money.
The national organization receives no funding from the cookie sale.
